Keri Stewart, Mystery and Poetry Author

Keri Stewart is a 17 year-old published author from New England, USA. She’s been writing since the age of 12, and has since gone on to write various poetry collections, with a mystery/horror novel in the works.

Q: What do you love about writing? A: “I like writing because it allows me to express myself, but I’m also additionally fond of the way words come together to produce its own story. I’m not exactly sure why, but I’ve always been drawn to the idea of storytelling.”

Q: Why have you chosen to write in the genres you have? A: “When I was thirteen, we read Sherlock Holmes in English, ever since then I’ve been writing murder mysteries. (Though, it might also be a combination of how I like crime shows and solving puzzles.) When it comes to poetry I love the way words come together and can almost sound like a song. So much thought goes into poetry and if you really dig deep into a poem you can discover so many hidden gems. Not only are the words creating a story, but all the literary devices come together and add so much depth.”

Q: What is your most recent released project? What are you currently working on? A: “My most recent book is a poetry collection called “Did Someone Say Metaphor?”, a collection featuring one hundred poems written during the first month of the COVID quarantine. Many of the poems feature the use of metaphors, but if you really look closely at the poems you can see the hidden meanings. The collection starts off with negative poems, but over time it becomes more lighthearted and friendly. As of right now I am working on a mystery/horror novel that features a teen cold case blogger named Brynn. Although it lacks a title, the novel doesn’t lack a big overall picture; this story is about standing up for your beliefs in a society that disagrees with them.”
