Emma Shipley, Realistic Fiction Author

Emma Shipley is a 17 year-old published author from Fishers, Indiana. She began writing at 8 years old, and it was also at this age that she drafted her first children's book.

Q: What's your favorite part of the writing process?

A: "My favorite part about writing is the possible impact it can have on someone else’s life. The responses/feedback I get when people read my work is the highlight of my week. Watching people’s faces light up over something I created is truly beautiful."

Q: Why have you chosen Realistic Fiction as your primary genre?

A: "I chose this genre because I could sit down for hours constantly writing, and rarely pause."

Q: What's your most recent published project?

A: "My most recent project is my children’s novel, “Andy’s Snow Day”. This book is about a curious little boy name Andy he was given the task of shoveling the driveway one snowy morning. All of a sudden, he falls into a hole sending him into a magical underground place filled with kids from all around the world! Throughout the story, the reader follows along with Andy through his unbelievable, fun snow day. Discovering the underlying message of the importance of family is a wild ride not only for Andy, but also the readers. The only question left is, how does Andy get home?"

Q: What are you currently working on?

A: "Currently, I am entering the beginning stages of publishing this book (finding editors). After putting many hours into this book with my old composition teacher, I believe my book is finally as perfect as I can make it. I wrote the first version of this when I was eight years old and found it a year ago, then decided to revise it. I sent this to many teachers within my school corporation and had their classes review it. With their surveys and one-on-one reading sessions with kids, I created my book."

Emma's published book, "Never Alone", is available on iBooks.
