Corrie Elise Parks, Fiction Author

Corrie Elise Parks is an unpublished young adult author from Alabama, USA. She began writing at 11 years old, and has gone on to complete two drafts of an exciting fantasy novel.

Q: What do you love about writing?

A: "My favorite part of writing used to be the escapist feeling of spinning a beautiful and adventurous world for others to dive into. Nowadays, I love writing fiction primarily as a form of expression—an art medium for me to spill the inner workings of my mind and soul and put them on display. Though of course, I do love my plot twists."

Q: What forms of writing do you specialize in?

A: "I write mostly fiction with at least some aspect of fantasy. However, I consider “fantasy” to be an umbrella title for any genre that has some aspect of supernatural. I love breaking genre stereotypes and exploring new ideas. Aside from fiction, I occasionally write (free-verse) poetry."

Q: What have you worked on in the past?

A: "While I have not published any of my longer works, I have completed two drafts of a fantasy novel titled Death of a New Year, which is about a cursed town where once a year, teens of age disappear to live in another dimension for ten years."

Q: What are you currently working on?

A: "I am currently working on a new novel that hovers on the boundaries of magical realism. This story draws on my personal experiences of being a cross country runner in Alabama, and is about a high school girl who is haunted by magical beings who seek to take her into their own."
