Brittney Kristina is a 20 year-old published author from Texas, USA. She began to write her mother stories at 4 years old, and went on to write her first novel at 9 and publish her first novel at 14.
Q: What do you love about writing?
A: "I love that writing gives you the freedom to create worlds you've always wanted to live in and people you've always wanted to meet. It's a wonderful way to escape from the world but it is unlike reading in the sense that everything in the world is up to you. You are the master of this world, and because writing is one of the most creative art forms, it can be both fun and stress-relieving. You can create your own little paradise, your own, functional place. You can express yourself in unimaginable ways."
Q: Why have you chosen thriller as your primary genre?
A: "I write psychological thrillers because I love psychology and vast ideas such as alternate realities, aliens, or strange creatures we have yet to discover, and the power of our minds. I am a psychology major and the more I learn about psychology, the more I want to write about it! I turn these concepts and ideas I learn and transfer them to fictional stories."
Q: What's your latest published project?
A: "My most recent novel is called Fifty Days, and it is a psychological thriller about a girl who awakens in a basement with no recollection of who she is, where she is, or how she got there. A strange boy takes care of her and promises that in fifty days, he will explain everything and will set her free, but she must wait until then. So she does--the story unfolds over the course of fifty, long, mysterious days, as the girl fights her curious mind and grows oddly close to this boy who is keeping her captive. As the days go on, too, things begin to get more and more peculiar...."
Q: What are you currently working on? A: "I am currently working on a bunch of different things! I currently have a blog called Mindfully Brittney (www.mindfullybrittney.com), where I share ideas and tips related to mindfulness, minimalism, psychology, and occasionally I'll share writing advice and writing of my own! I have a creative novel I am working on, but I am not pushing myself to get it finished or published anytime soon since I am a pretty busy college student and already have 2 books out! But, I am working on another project related to my mindfulness blog--a self-help book for young adults called Mindfully You! So, stay tuned for that!"
